Category:

Music Special

Network:

BBC

Date:

Sept 20, 1959

Co-stars:

Belafonte:

According to biographer, Genia Fogelson, Belafonte reached an
agreement in 1959 to do 7 shows for the BBC. However it appears
he got so busy that he was unable to fully honour the commitment. But how many
Belafonte specials actually aired on BBC (dates, guests, songs, sketches, ...) ?
Can someone out there come to our assistance?
Just for the record we have references to 6 appearances (singing engagements and
interviews) on BBC over the years - Dec 1958, Sept 1959, Nov 1972, Nov 1976,
Nov 1977, and June 1988.
